Qualifications:

Bachelor of Arts (Nagpur University. Nagpur, India)

Master of Clinical Psychology (Nagpur University. Nagpur, India)

Languages Spoken / Cultural awareness:

English, Hindi, Gujarati and Marathi

Understands Punjabi, Urdu, and a few other Indian languages.

Lived in Kenya for a few years thus, familiar with the Kenyan culture and understand Swahili

Background:

Disha is a psychologist with postgraduate training in clinical psychology in India, where she then worked as a psychologist with children and adolescents, adults, and couples.  Overseas psychology qualifications are only partially recognised in Australia and therefore after emigrating to Australia with her family, Disha was required to complete an internship to become a registered psychologist in Australia. She completed this successfully, following an arduous journey involving weekly weekly consultation with a clinical psychologist, 13 written assessments, 120 hours of professional development, 1000 hours of client consultations, and completion of the National Psychology Exam at a grade above 70%! Apart from this immense dedication to the practice of psychology, Disha brings a wealth of experience and a grounded compassionate therapy approach to our team.

Disha offers individual and couples therapy. She works with a broad range of mental health and interpersonal difficulties including:

As a clinician Disha embraces a client-centred approach, working with individual needs. She uses psychological interventions of:

  • Interpersonal Therapy
  • Mindfulness

Disha is also a Member of the Australian Association of Psychologists inc (AAPi).
